International Day of Non-Violence (2021-10-02)

The day of *October 2* is very special because on this day, along with the birthday of the *Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi,* the birth anniversary of the *former Prime Minister of the country, Lal Bahadur Shastri,* is also celebrated on October 2. Lal Bahadur Shastri, who gave the slogan 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan'. Lal Bahadur Shastri devoted his entire life in the service of the poor. *Mahatma Gandhi,* Father of the Nation, as he was called, led India’s freedom movement along with many other national leaders against the British rule in India. His method of non-violence inspired many civil rights movements across the world. To celebrate his contribution to the nation, 2nd October is celebrated every year as the *International Day of Non-Violence* by the United Nations.
